OUR STORY

HOW NORTH GRID CAME TO BE

Cam Klassen has been building since before North Grid had a name. He apprenticed under a local red-seal journeyman carpenter who specialized in timber-frame construction, and he describes it simply: he fell in love with the craft and never looked back.

Over the years in the trade, he saw a consistent gap. Builders who were exceptional at the work but didn’t run a tight operation. Or operators who ran a tight business but didn’t truly understand what they were building. Cam decided to build both on purpose, not to choose between being good at the craft and being good at running a company.

When North Grid became real, Andrea Klassen said yes because she believed in both the work and the people behind it. Her strength in organization, systems, and client communication fit naturally with Cam’s strength on the front end, working with clients, understanding what they’re trying to build, and guiding the project through pre-construction and planning. The balance wasn’t accidental. It was intentional from the beginning.

North Grid was built to be the kind of company that does things properly. Quality work, honest communication, and clients who feel supported from the first conversation to the one-year follow-up call.

North Grid serves clients within a two-hour radius of Steinbach, Manitoba. That includes urban Winnipeg, communities across Southeastern Manitoba, and remote builds throughout the province and into the Lake of the Woods region of Northwestern Ontario. Remote access and challenging site logistics are part of our core expertise, not an exception to it. If the location is complicated, you’re likely already in our wheelhouse.

Client Relationship and Pre-Construction Lead

Cam is the first person you’ll talk to at North Grid and the one making sure the plan you hand off to the build team is exactly what you signed up for. He is not the loudest person in the room, which makes sense because he is 5’7″ and his truck is taller than he is. What he is, is scrappy, driven, and genuinely invested in getting your project right. Not a version of it. Not close enough. The thing you had in mind when you first called.

ANDREA KLASSEN

Founder and Project Administrator

Andrea is the reason nothing falls through the cracks. On a typical day she is tracking every active project from the office side, making sure documents are organized, invoices are current, and the project managers have what they need to keep moving. Her standard for clients is simple: they should never feel out of the loop, never feel like they’re bothering anyone by asking a question, and never walk away from a conversation without a clear answer. She built North Grid alongside Cam because she believed in the work and saw how their strengths fit together. She still does.
